About Us
What We Do
Acquire, Improve, and Efficiently Manage Value-Add Real Estate
Driftwood Equity Partners is a real estate investment firm that acquires multifamily apartments, self-storage, and other high-yield commercial real estate. These opportunities must meet our underwriting criteria in order for us to proceed. Once acquired, the assets then produce consistent cash distributions and build equity through future capital appreciation.

Our Model
- Our network of brokers, sponsors, managers, and operators offer us partnering opportunities on a regular basis. We filter through these and partner with those projects where we see exceptional value add opportunities.
- Favor locations and markets with strong growth dynamics and located in the path of progress.
- Focus on value-add, repositioning, and rebranding projects that have existing revenue and strong net operating income.
- Target holding periods of 3-5 years with opportunities for refinancing cash-outs or other liquidity events once significant value is created.

Meet Luke Hemenover
I’m a sales manager that was born into construction and real estate, having worked alongside my father and brothers for our family's third generation construction business. In my pursuit of learning about the best markets for multifamily investment, I began to understand the impact of expanding my reach in multiple ways through risk-adjusted underwriting and due diligence. In other words, BIGGER is better! To date, my portfolio consists of 1500+ apartment units, a short-term rental, and our primary residence here in Austin. I’ve taken my learnings to local meet-ups, scheduled calls with mentors, and attended conferences to help fuel this obsession. Getting involved in the multifamily eco-system has afforded me the opportunity to meet some amazing operators along the way, and I’m happy to share these same investment vehicles with you!
I reside in Austin, TX alongside my wife (Lindy) and our children (Grace, George). Outside of my day-to-day as a salesperson and investor, I love to play sports, be outside, and enjoy my family and friends. Can’t wait to partner alongside you throughout this journey!

Meet Matt McKnight
I’m a real estate entrepreneur who first started in the business in 2010 as an agent at one of the largest independent brokerages in Austin. After years of success and earning multiple awards - including top grossing agent - I started my own brokerage, McKnight Real Estate, in 2017.
To date, I have transacted hundreds of millions in real estate - much of which is credited to sourcing great deals and fostering relationships. In addition to owning and operating McKnight Real Estate, I am also an active investor in 1300+ units, commercial businesses, and other development deals. My extensive network and knowledge of Central Texas real estate has also afforded me the opportunity to serve as sponsor broker for commercial entities that develop, invest, and trade multifamily real estate throughout the Austin area.
I have served and volunteered on multiple organizations including The Austin History Center, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, and my neighborhood’s Architecture Control Committee. In my spare time, I love spending time with my wife and 3 lovely daughters, being outdoors, and playing sports!
